Cookies used
DiscountShoppingUK 1st party cookies
We do not directly set any cookies when you view our site, we are cookieless for want of a better word.
Website analytic cookies
DiscountShoppingUK does not set any cookies for analytic or tracking purposes, neither do we use any external service which does so.
Affiliate link tracking 3rd party cookies
Most of the links to offers found on DiscountShoppingUK are affiliate links. They are a tracking mechanism provided by selected third party affiliate networks that allow us to receive a small commission on any sales generated. These cookies don’t collect personal information that identifies a visitor and are classified as ‘Category 2: performance cookies’ as per the International Chamber of Commerce UK Cookie guide April 2012.
The basic mechanism is like this
- You click a link on this website and are redirected through a 3rd affiliate network that we’ve chosen to partner with.
- A cookie is set by the relevant affiliate network at their redirect/tracking server.
- You are then forwarded to the retailer’s website and then another cookie is usually set when you arrive there.
- When you navigate the ecommerce/retailer’s website cookies are usually used to identify what you’ve added to the shopping basket.
Once you reach a payment confirmation page at the retailer’s website a call-back to the affiliate network is usually performed and all cookies (with a certain unique identifier) will basically create a ‘handshake’ that says ‘allocate a commission of £x.xx to this affiliate’. The names of the cookies will vary depending on the network and this process will usually result in 2 cookies from an affiliate network being set.
(Note: more in-depth cookie and privacy information for affiliate links is to follow)
By using this website, you agree that these types of cookies can be placed on your device.
